CF Tip: Learning to adapt.

While this is funny, it reminded me of a short and simple point. There’s no one right way to do anything. And just because something works in one situation it doesn’t necessarily mean it will translate and work in another.  So fellow control freaks listen up!  This isn’t just the tip of the week, it’s one to keep in your back pocket on a daily basis.  Are you ready for it…

LEARN TO ADAPT.

I know, that’s a tough one for those who seek control. We love structure, schedules, and plans; but in reality our lives, our environment, the world around us is constantly changing every year, every day, every second!  So stay on your toes!  Take a deep breath and be flexible! Your inner control freak is probably having an anxiety attack just thinking about the spontaneity of adaptability, so let me put this into control freak perspective.

Learning to adapt is really  just planning for the unexpected. Phew planning again, that sounds better. If you excel at planning and organization and add versatility to your tool belt, well then you are a super star.  Being versatile is a huge asset for organizing, decorating, relationships, and well quite frankly it will improve your personal and professional life.

So the next time your perfect plan hits a speed bump don’t get frustrated! It may slow you down or make you turn in another direction, but don’t let it stop you in your tracks! Instead be creative, have fun, and in the words of Tim Gunn, “Make it work!”
